Youth Development Program

Welcome Parents, 

 

The Youth Development Program is offered through the Beyond the Bell branch of the Los Angeles School District and is designed to expose students to a variety of educational and fun activities. The YDP program is offered Monday-Friday from dismissal to 6:00P.M. The program offers the following rotations:

 

Homework Assistance:  A rotation to help students get started on their homework, and ask any questions if help is needed.

 

Academic Enrichment:  A rotation that focuses on hands on learning through standards based daily lesson. These lessons support the teaching through a school day held in a fun engaging manner.

 

Recreation:  A rotation that offers children an opportunity to exercise and exert physical energy while being guided in skill based activities.

 

Read-a-Loud:  A rotation where all students are read to and engaged in book talk. Book talk consists of learning of plot, setting, character development, all while strengthening their comprehension skills.

 

Supper:  Part of YDP daily rountine. Students are served a free, healthy, nutritious snack that is provided through the Los Angeles Unified School District Food Services Division every day after the bell rings.

Kindergarten, first, second, and third grade students are only eligible for YDP. Please call the Site Coordinator to see if there is space for fourth and fifth grade students.

Grade 4 and 5 students are only eligible for YS.
